INTRODUCTION

These materials contain suggestions for learning activities and student worksheets based on the State Library of Queensland exhibition A Gift of Presence: the spirit of reconciliation. Activities suitable for middle primary, upper primary and secondary/adult students have been provided. All activities are linked to identified outcomes from the Studies of Society and Environment (SOSE) syllabus.

The activities have been designed to:
· Stimulate a range of opinions and discussion of the issue
· Develop critical literacy skills in identifying influences on perception, stereotyping and bias
· Promote visual and textual literacy skills
· Model ways to interact with exhibition materials and the social/cultural experience of an exhibition.

Materials for each level include suggested
· Pre-visit preparation
· A small range of structured activities to be completed during the visit
· Post-visit activities.
